It seems like yesterday to me but now at 45 my body feels the difference in the time that has passed. We all grew up and went on with life. I bailed out early I didn't finish school. And I had my reasons back then my life was a bit upside down. But guess what? I ended up in the pest & nuisance wildlife control industry. And today I find myself walking the halls of Cobb County schools doing the pest control on them every month. And going in schools like Powers Ferry, East Cobb and Wheeler. And the memories never stop no matter how many times I do them. After the first few months I thought they would but now at a year latter they still flow at every visit. At first it was very depressing but after the first few times I found myself looking forward to it and still do.
Wheeler it seems has out grown itself. They are about to knock down the old and finish up the new part. The one spot myself and many friends used to meet every morning was the dip hole. They have just about removed this spot all that is left is two sections of hand rails.
I just recently found myself on a Wheeler Alumni website a few weeks back and found listings of friends that are no longer with us. Some from 1985 and others from the surrounding years. This was very depressing to say the least. And I'm sure as time goes on we will see each other on this site as we check out. In seeing and feeling this I decided to put this stupid little blog together just for fun. Life is all about memories and these years were some of our best folks. I encourage you to do the same. Membership pay sites developed to group old school friends together is one thing but there is nothing like just letting it roll out in memories. Build the memories in a blog and set it free. Link to mine and allow me to link to yours. Keep it going let it ride one day our kids can come here and see and read who we were and where we came from.
Powers Ferry School just had the old dishwasher removed from their kitchen. This sounds nuts but yea it's a big deal to me I went there for a few years. And this dishwasher is the original one that has been in there since day one. It was made in 1950 and I got a photo of it sitting on the back kitchen dock awaiting the county to pick it up and scrap it out.
And would you believe East Cobb is just now getting the bathrooms remodeled? Yes they still look just like they did all those years ago. Or at least for now as of 5/13 but they are being redone. How many times did you stand in front of those old sinks and fix your hair? Look at those old red clay floor tiles and cement block walls. Still looks the same to me.
Speaking of East Cobb Middle School how many of you remember Mr Nettles? well I will never forget the man he got to know me fairly well while I was there. I spent a little to much time in his office in trouble. But I was doing the pest control in Pine Mountain Middle School and found his photo on the wall and had to snap a pic of it just for laughs to text friends with. It seems this is the school he went to after he left East Cobb.
I will be uploading some other photos now and then of some of the dumbest things but keep an open mind everyone thinks differently in the world. One day after all the kids left Wheeler and I finished up my pest control service I went into the cafeteria and just sat down in the same spot where me and my friends used to eat lunch everyday. I took a moment and just looked around and let the old memories flow for a few moments. I noticed that even the table and chairs I was sitting at even looked the same. Small things like the bell in the hall just outside the cafeteria looked the same. These are going to be taken down and in the past but not before I take the time to get a few photos.
In case you guys have failed to notice the Internet has made some massive changes to information the last few years. I have found listings on other sites of our friends that have passed away over the years. But looking this information up online is nearly next to impossible anymore. Google and Bing have changed the way they index information and everything has switched over to the not so free information age. So finding out who has passed away and why is no longer put online and left for the world to read anymore. So if you know of any of our friends that have passed away please list them here with the other information like when and how.
Check out this old newspaper clipping I have had this thing forever.
And also your going to see some Google Advertising on the site now I
kept it off for a couple of years but it might end up helping me pay for
a better site one day so toss a few clicks that way.
Also Google does use cookies now on Blogger so this is your official notice.
